Hi, my name is Néstor López. I am a student from Mexico, and I’m spending an exchange year here at Anna-Schmidt-Schule (2025–2026). I am very happy and grateful to the school for hosting me and for welcoming me into the community.
During the Politics and Economics lessons, I had the chance to present the political system of Mexico and give my classmates an insight into the history of my country. I explained important events like the struggle for independence from the Spanish Empire, the Mexican Revolution, and the goals of our current government under Claudia Sheinbaum, the first female president in the country‘s history. I also talked about the challenges that Mexico faces today, such as crime and social issues on the one hand, and projects that aim to strengthen local communities and improve people‘s living conditions on the other.
Working on this presentation was really exciting, because I could share my culture and its values, the historical and political developments, and also a little bit of my experiences as a Mexican student. Even in difficult times, Mexicans continue working hard to improve our society. I wanted my classmates to understand that Mexico is a country with many challenges, but it is also full of hope, courage, and proud people.
I hope that one day, as many of my fellows from the school community as possible will be able to visit Mexico and experience its beauty, life, colors, music, food, cultural heritage and of course its amazing people.
I am very thankful to the school and my teachers for supporting me, and I am enjoying every moment of my exchange year here in Germany.
